I love this! I have some of my mom’s and want to wear them but couldn’t quite figure out how so you’ve given me lots of inspiration. Beautiful photos, too!
Your dressing table is BEAUTIFUL, Louise! And the brooches, too. I love that you have that ritual, at your dressing table, and my brother in law and his Danish wife gave us Georg Jensen tealight holders as special anniversary gifts - so beautiful! You’ve inspired me to dig out my beloved mother’s brooches, which I kept when my brother and I went through my parents’ precious things when they moved into a residential home - so hard- and I haven’t felt ready to wear her pieces since we lost her two years ago this summer. As always, so beautifully written, Louise. 💗
Oh, I hope you wear her brooches! I also wear my rings belonging to my mother (thankfully still here) and grandmother, and love just having that feeling that I carry them with me. Love everything about Georg Jensen, and I have their tealights on my wishlist!
Oh my goodness okay I hope no one else is looking – worst photo ever literally snapped in the moment now at the kitchen table ha ha! That is beautiful about your mother‘s rings. Oh how what we wear can become and reflect the stories of our lives. I will definitely update you on the brooches, I might even write something about it in your honour!
I love the idea of experimenting with brooches, but in reality, I'm too lazy to fuss around with adding them to my outfits. The only way I wear them is by affixing a couple to a chosen overshirt or jacket and just leaving them there for the season.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful brooch collection, Louise! I don't own any but agree that a Georg Jensen brooch is "beautiful and highly desirable" - I decided that if I ever found myself back in Denmark, I'd make one of his pieces my trip souvenir!
I love the fish! And it has such a gently worn feel that makes it feel loved.
Also love the little painting you have propped on the table. I nearly bought a writing desk (with a fold out top) on Saturday at the thrift store to use as a dressing table but I thought the colour was a little too dark for my flat. But it felt like it would be nice to to have a place to put my very small selection of jewellery, my everyday watch, and a a scarf or two tucked into the niches.

I first thought of wearing them more formally but somehow wearing the brooches with soft fabrics to my everyday life makes them so much more wearable!
That makes so much sense! And a shame to not wear them, too

I think that may well be what I end up doing - I've been quite carried away by the novelty of it all thus far!

I got a ring from GJ last time I was in Copenhagen. The shop is so full of beautiful things it was hard to choose any one thing!
