“I have a fantasy of an alternative life in which I have a chic minimalist home not entirely furnished with acquired bits and pieces.”

Ha! Don’t we all! Spouse and I are both guilty of acquiring bits (that czarist Russian tea set? those Danish teak side tables?) and have a house that had some design direction once but is mostly just lived in and full of things one or the other of us don’t want to part with.

However, I am attempting to fulfill this fantasy: bought a 550-square-foot tiny house in a Portuguese village and have entrusted the design, renovation, and furnishing to professionals. Gulp. The Westwing lamp was on the mood board …

These are all so beautiful! It's so nice to be able to appreciate such gorgeous things without feeling the need to buy them but if there comes a time when you do, you've already done the research upfront!

Ah, lovely, lovely things, indeed! I'm tempted to start browsing stuff for my home now, since clothes are out of the question. Must! Resist! Temptation!!

Argh! Sorry not sorry :)

I should have come to you sooner for a list of places to buy ‘housey stuff’ in Italy! I’ve been mostly kitting out our house here from Zara Home and Maison du Monde which is very boring! Have you bought from Westwing - does it arrive? My main concern here always (living up a mountain in Tuscany).

I have bought from Westwing and they were pretty good. I buy a lot from Nordic Nest and they are reliable too - but not terribly quick, so I do all my Christmas shopping from them very early!

Such lovely things.

Love the blue jug, the yellow lamp, the stripey cup. 🤩

The three of them together would be perfect!
