This was so beautiful, Louise! Your father sounds like heβs lived a life of love and is now being showered with it in return. Sending you love, friend π
As you know I work in a hospital so I'm surrounded by this every day and never stop being amazed at the love and care that surrounds the place even with all the pain and heartache it contains. Sending love and strength xx
Oh Louise, Iβve been thinking of you. This is extraordinary, hard and beautiful. All of this. And so true. βHe knows how loved he is, we know how loved we are.β This!! This. Sending you so much love. XXXXXX
Your dad sounds amazing, and like heβs marinating in love. I hope your wish comes true. What a beautiful post! There is so much that is scary in a hospital, but there is also so much love and so much hope.
Oh, Louise, I am so sorry. Your father is obviously an exceptional man, and as we grow older in this grubby little way station of a life, we learn, bitterly, that the down side of having known an exceptional person is having to say good-bye to them when the time comes. It's a horribly tough time and, speaking as someone who also loved an exceptional older man (an uncle not a father, but the love was there), I can only say that my heart is with you. Try to take care of yourself ...
Louise, what a beautiful post. So much love in your words, you made me tear up. I hope he is feeling a little better now.
Is your father Italian? Mine is from Milan, and my mother English from near StHelens in Lancashire, but they moved to Switzerland when I was very small. My father will be 86 this year.
That is wonderful news! think my mother would have loved to live in Italy, or in England. As she ages she is obsessed with England, and watches Escape To The Country with stars and desire in her eyes.

We hope he will be home next week. Both my parents are Scottish, they came to Italy in 1970 and never left!
